What You Can Expect In Your Initial Visit To KMTC

Please arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled appointment for registration!

You will find that we do our best to run on time and we respect that your time is as valuable as ours. If you arrive late, your time with the therapist will be shortened to avoid delaying those scheduled after you.

If you schedule an appointment that you do not attend (no show), you may be charged fully for this visit. This may also apply to same day cancellations with short notice.

There is parking at the side of the building or street parking in front of the clinic.

Your First Visit to Kelowna Manual Therapy Centre will Include:

  • A thorough history.
  • Biomechanical evaluation of the relevant injured or painful area.
  • Explanation of the assessment findings.
  • Treatment of your condition.
  • Our clinic believes that a patient’s involvement in his or her own recovery is paramount to success. We provide education on a patient’s condition, explaining what is wrong, what caused or contributed to the injury and what treatment(s) can be done to correct the problem.

What to Bring to Your First Appointment

Bring your BC care card and Doctor’s referral. However, a Doctor’s referral is not necessary to attend physiotherapy and massage therapy in BC. The Medical Services Plan (MSP) of British Columbia does not cover physiotherapy or massage therapy (unless you qualify for premium assistance – see below).

Your individual extended health plan may cover part/all of your physiotherapy and massage therapy. Payment, in full, is expected on the day of the treatment. A receipt for the services rendered will be issued at the time of your visit and can be submitted to your extended health plan. We accept cash, cheque, debit, VISA or MasterCard.

MSP premium assistance is a financial subsidy based on your previous year’s net income. If you qualify for this assistance, we bill MSP for a portion of the physiotherapy fee for a maximum of ten treatments per calendar year. These 10 visits are split between physiotherapists, massage therapists and other health professionals throughout B.C. For more information contact our front office staff.

ICBC Clients – bring your BC Care Card, Doctor’s referral, ICBC claim number, and adjuster’s name if you have it. Please note that ICBC does NOT cover the full cost of physiotherapy or massage therapy and a visit fee will be charged. Our front office staff will provide you will this information when you book your first appointment.

Worksafe BC – bring your BC care card, Doctor’s referral, and WCB claim number if you have one.

RCMP / DVA – please speak to the receptionist about specific coverage for these groups.

What to Wear to Your First Appointment

Please wear or bring suitable exercise clothing for each visit, (i.e. shorts, t-shirt). In the event you don’t have these with you, we do have a few available.
